Rishire Young was born in Manhattan to Sierra Leonean parents. She was raised an army brat, moving from state to state every few months with her mother, father, twin sister, and half sister. Her passion for acting started at a young age and moved with her everywhere she went. While on the west coast, her mother often took trips to California with her and her twin sister to audition for commercials and feature films.
At age eight, Rishire moved to Charleston, SC with her mother and twin sister. Having spent ten years in that southern paradise, Rishire considers Charleston home. There she got more of a taste for acting, landing a background role in the feature film Radio and participating in a number of theater projects in and out of school. She also got a taste for music, joining her school's choir and taking piano lessons.
Pursuing her dreams, Rishire moved to New York City to attend New York University where she earned a bachelors degree in Music. Although she studied in Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, she used her elective credits to take classes at Tisch School of the Arts. She supplemented her music studies with acting classes around the city at studios, such as Upright Citizens Brigade, The Acting Studio, and Atlantic Theater Acting School. Rishire is continually honing her craft through classes and networking events.
